Lesley Michaels was born a free spirit. From age five when she hid in the back of the milkman’s truck just for the adventure, or sneaking into the mail truck at seven, expecting to see the entire world through the tiny back window, Lesley has pursued each adventure that has appeared on her path. Even when these earliest journeys were cut short, by rather surprised delivery men, that freedom of spirit was never squelched.
It was that very spirit that propelled her to ignore the traditional rules, or at least assume they did not pertain to her personally, and as it is said in the business world, break through the glass ceiling into executive level corporate oil. From there it compelled her to leave that career and become a professional massage therapist, ultimately specializing in geriatric care, primarily because she loved the stories her older friends had to share.
Sometime after her thirtieth birthday, Lesley began feeling the itch to pursue her childhood desire to see the world, re-igniting. Inspired by an acquaintance who was doing just that as a lecturer, Lesley combined her love of connecting with people of diverse backgrounds, with her desire to travel widely, and in the turn of a head the next adventure had begun.
Ultimately her traveling shoes and the call of Mama Maui carried her to Hawaii where she found herself embraced by a most beautiful body of ‘ohana and discovered the heart of the Aloha spirit. This time her love of coming together with others in collaborative creation saw the birth of the non-profit, HonuaOla.
At this point in her life, Lesley can often be overheard telling friends, “I must be the luckiest woman in the world. I get to travel all over the planet. I meet amazing people everywhere I go and actually have the time and opportunity to sit, share stories, dance and play with them. And to top it all off I get to invite people wherever I am to participate with all the people effected by this most amazing organization, and I get to do this every day of my life.”
Lesley believes knowing what you would like as an epitaph is the ultimate peek into what kind of life will bring ultimate fulfillment. She lives each day for it to be able to be said: She Showed Up.
Lesley Michaels authored the books; Unveiling the Secrets of the Soul; The Psychology of Reincarnation, and Just Roll Over and Float; The Path to Living Boldly. She publishes a monthly CD that offers discourses focused on spiritual living through practical application. She was 2007 recipient of the Ghandi/King Award for Peace for her endeavors related to HonuaOla.
